Many people make a big deal out of the Valentine’s Day card. Unbelievably, they expect the find the “Perfect Card”. They want the card to say exactly the right thing in just the right words. If you are one of those people, this is a great thing because it means that you really care about sharing your thoughts, feelings and emotions with your partner. The thing is though, these cards are mass-produced and it could literally take you hours just to find a card that comes close to saying what you are feeling in your heart.
The best thing to do would be to personalize the card yourself. Find a nice card that has a short romantic saying inside. Then, on the blank flap of the inside of the card, you will want to write your special message. Write about the feelings you have for him or the way that he makes you feel. You could write a poem and include it in the card or you could get super creative and fill the inside of the card with the phrase “I love you,” written out in all of the different languages of the world. A simple search online will help you find that information. Just whatever you do, if you are going to include a poem, try to make sure that it is original and that it comes from your heart, not the heart of some sixteen year old that posted her poem online.
You could also create your own card. Even though at first this may sound a little childish to you, it can be extremely romantic. Think of it as a collage of your relationship. It’s true art, not a child’s project. Find some things that you have been holding onto that remind you of your years spent together. You may have saved ticket stubs, ribbons, pictures, dried rose pedals and many other things. Go through the collection of things that you have saved throughout the time you have been together and create your Valentine’s Day card out of that. This will show that you have put a lot of thought into the card and since that is what romance is all about, you will find that he will be flattered.
Depending on the size of the card and the amount of time it takes for you to create it, the card itself could act as a gift. It is certainly something that he will not want to throw away. If you want to make sure that the card is not the only way that your Valentine’s Day is celebrated, you will want to check with him to make sure that you are having a romantic dinner together. Maybe you could even watch a romantic movie or two. Chick flicks are the usual Valentine’s Day fare. However, if you want to be extra nice, you could slip in one of his favorite movies, even if it is an action movie. He will not expect for you to do that but he will absolutely love it.
